The Chronomètre Souverain is the essence of the brand: no complication, no effect — a hand-wound movement engineered for accuracy with two barrels, visible through the sapphire caseback.
The evolution of the Chronomètre Souverain
Introduced in 2005, the Chronomètre Souverain was the first Journe watch devoted purely to precision, without tourbillon or resonance.
Calibre 1304 runs two barrels in parallel, delivering more even torque across the full running period — the true chronometric argument behind the watch.
Dials over the years have appeared in silver guilloché, gold, and later ruthenium. The off-centre seconds and slightly offset main dial define the recognisable layout of the Souveraine line.
Since 2004 the movements have been made in 18-carat red gold; early examples with brass movements are correspondingly rare.
