The Rafael Nadal watch
The RM 035 grew out of a specific requirement: a mechanical watch a tennis professional could wear during a match. The result weighed, strap included, under twenty grams — and redefined what durability could be expected of a watch.
The evolution of the RM 035
In 2010 Rafael Nadal first wore an RM 027 in tournament play. The RM 035 derived from it made the concept available in larger numbers.
The movement sits on a skeletonised titanium baseplate engineered for maximum rigidity at minimal weight. Depending on the execution, the case is made from magnesium-aluminium alloys, NTPT Carbon or titanium.
The watch was developed under real-world conditions: Nadal played entire tournaments wearing it, subjecting it to impact accelerations that a conventional movement could not withstand.
Later executions such as the RM 35-01 and RM 35-02 expanded the line with automatic movements and new composite materials.
